About Dr. Rai
Dr. Amandeep S. Rai is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Ophthalmology residency program, where he served as Chief Resident. At a national level, he served as President of the Canadian Council of Ophthalmology Residents and on the Canadian Ophthalmological Society’s planning committee.
Dr. Rai has been recognized with the Kensington Eye Institute (KEI) award for proficiency in cataract surgery, the John Speakman award as best resident at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and the Feldman/Trope/Wong Award as best instructor at TORIC, a national ophthalmology course for first-year residents.
Dr. Rai’s clinical interests include comprehensive ophthalmology, with a special interest in cataract surgery. He is interested in intraocular lens (IOL) design, innovation, and biometry. He is dedicated to medical students and resident teaching and is a founding member of the annual “All About IOLs” symposium.
Dr. Rai has published peer-reviewed articles in the areas of medical education, surgical simulation, glaucoma and retina. He has presented at national and international conferences, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting, the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) meeting, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) meeting.
