Mili Roy, MD
Dr. Mili Roy is an ophthalmologist with fellowship training in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis, also involved in teaching and published research. She is an Assistant Professor, University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, and Section Editor/Board member at the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology.
Dr Roy serves as sustainability education lead for the Canadian Ophthalmological Society, functioning as project lead developing national ophthalmology sustainability guidelines, a Canadian first. Reflecting her interest in public health and global ophthalmology, she’s been a volunteer/observer at Shankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital, India and serves on the executive of the Canadian Association for Public Health and Global Ophthalmology.
With a deep interest in the intersection of human health and environmental health, Dr Roy completed a Harvard Medicine affiliated Climate Health Organizing Fellowship, and serves as Ontario Co-Chair of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment. She is a founding co-chair of the Ontario Climate Emergency Campaign, an environmental democracy coalition upholding planetary health principles.
She joined the Canadian delegation to the United Nations COP29 in Azerbaijan in 2024, centering human health in international climate negotiations. Her advocacy work includes education; media work; public events; policy work at municipal, provincial and federal levels; and advancing democracy as a lever for public health and climate action.
