Retina

Expert Retina Care Starts Here

Your retina plays a vital role in your vision; it’s the part of your eye that senses light and sends signals to your brain. Protecting it means protecting your sight.

At Prism Eye Institute, our world-class retina specialists, advanced technology, and compassionate care team are here to give you peace of mind and the best chance at healthy vision for life.

What to Expect

Your first retina visit will take about 2-3 hours so we can give your eyes the time and attention they need.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • A full eye exam, including pupil dilation
  • Advanced retinal imaging and preliminary tests
  • A consultation with one of our retina specialists to review your results
  • Discussion of your treatment plan and, if needed, same-day treatment (such as an injection)

We’ll explain every step and answer any questions, so you feel comfortable and informed.

Your Retina Testing, Explained

Before you see the doctor, our technicians will perform quick, painless tests that give us a close look at your retina’s health.

You may have:

  • OCT Scan: High-resolution cross-section images of your retina’s layers
  • Fundus Photography: Detailed photo of the back of your eye to track changes over time
  • Fluorescein Angiography: (if needed) Highlights blood flow to detect leaks or blockages

These tests give your doctor a complete picture, allowing them to recommend the right treatment plan right away.

How to Prepare for Your Visit

A few simple steps will help make your visit smooth and stress-free:

  • Bring your current medications and a summary of your medical history
  • Bring your glasses or contact lenses
  • Arrange for a driver if possible; your vision may be blurry after dilation
  • Arrive 10 minutes early to complete paperwork or download below?
