  • Early Stages: Stronger glasses, magnifiers, and improved lighting.
  • Advanced Stages: Cataract surgery is the only effective treatment. The cloudy lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). It’s one of the safest and most common surgeries worldwide.

What to expect after cataract Surgery

Most patients notice clearer vision within a few days after surgery, though your eyesight may continue to improve as your eyes heal. It’s common to experience mild irritation, light sensitivity, or watery eyes in the first few days. You’ll be given eye drops to prevent infection and reduce inflammation.

Full recovery usually takes about 4–6 weeks, and most people can return to normal daily activities within a few days. Regular follow-up visits will ensure your eye is healing properly.

Most patients can resume light daily activities within a few days. Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 1–2 weeks as advised.

Cataracts themselves cannot return after the lens is replaced. Occasionally, the lens capsule may cloud (secondary cataract), which can be treated with a simple laser procedure.
